Fabric Yellowing Can Be Classified into Five Main Types:
‌1. Photoyellowing‌
*Caused by ultraviolet (UV) or visible light triggering oxidative degradation of dye molecules, leading to fading and yellowing on light-colored, bleached, or whitened fabrics. Commonly observed under prolonged light exposure.

‌2. Phenolic Yellowing‌
*Occurs when antioxidants (e.g., BHT) in packaging materials react with nitrogen oxides (NOx) in the air to form yellow compounds, primarily during storage or transportation.

‌3. Oxidative Yellowing‌
*Results from oxidation reactions between reductive dyes/auxiliaries (used in dyeing or finishing) and oxygen/oxidizing agents, causing yellowish discoloration.

‌4. Whitening Agent-Induced Yellowing‌
*Excessive whitening agents migrate to localized areas during prolonged storage, causing yellowing on light-colored fabrics.

‌5. Softener-Induced Yellowing‌
*Cationic softeners used in finishing oxidize under heat or light, resulting in yellowing at treated areas.
